We ate so much delicious food in Austin! After a huge, fantastic lunch at The Salt Lick BBQ, we decided to just have dessert for dinner. I absolutely love Coolhaus ice cream, so I regularly stalk their truck on twitter. We followed them to the Long Center and were so surprised with what we saw!
From April – October, the last Tuesday of the month is Trailer Food Tuesday at the Long Center. The atmosphere was wonderful. 15 or so diverse food trucks gather and people from the community sit on the grass, look out on the beautiful downtown skyline, and socialize and snack. The Long Center is just steps from Lady Bird Lake and the trail that runs around it. You couldn’t ask for a more beautiful location! Be sure to bring your cameras 🙂 Young kids ran around, throwing frisbees or kicking soccer balls, 20 somethings relaxed on the grass with their dogs, even older adults and seniors were seen lounging folding chairs. If you’re not a fan of the picnic feel, Trailer Food Tuesday has lots of round tables set up for you as well. Finally, there was a live band – Rosie and the Ramblers.
In case you were wondering, I ordered salted caramel ice cream inside two pretzel chocolate chip cookies. Absolute heaven.
The next Trailer Food Tuesday will be held on May 27th from 5pm-9pm – don’t miss it!
